Rankin, Ruth Mary (nee Murray) On July 26th 2010, Ruth Rankin passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was in her 89th year. Beloved wife of David Rankin for 66 years, she is survived by her four children and their spouses- Alan and Helen Rankin of Calgary, Kay and Duke O’Sullivan of Hamilton, Paul and Penny Rankin of Beamsville, and Joyce and Tony DiClemente of Cambridge along with 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Maureen, her sisters Kathleen, Grace, and Margaret, and her brothers David, Robert, and Hugh. She will be sorely missed by her sister Frances Lake of Guelph and her brother Douglas Murray and wife Maureen of Oakville, and Thomas Murray and wife Beverly of Burlington as well as sisters in law Ruby Murray of Cambridge, Marie Cosby and Ray of Hamilton and Dorothy Geoffrey of Hamilton. Ruth was the organist at St. Eugene’s Church in Hamilton for 25 years from 1951 to 1976 and was the assistant organist at St. Bonaventure Parish in Don Mills from 1977 to 1991. Ruth has been a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Villa and several senior citizen clubs where she entertained on the piano. She was a 50 year member of the Catholic Women’s League. Thank you for the special care given by staff of Regina Gardens and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1919 King Street East (between Rosedale & Cochrane) on Wednesday July 28, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be offered at 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene Catholic Church (Parkdale and Queenston) on Thursday July 29, 2010 at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hamilton or the Canadian Cancer Society. |
