Dear Sylvia , Greig and I are so sorry for your loss. Mama Leida was such an important part of my life as my mom was for you. She inspired me in so many ways. Her love of gardening, her independence , her wit and story telling ( even long after you went to sleep Carm and I would stay to listen to those war stories) and most especially her love for you. She was an amazing spirit who will be missed so much, but will remain in my heart forever. We love you Sylvia so much and are thinking about you. Always your sis, Tina

Dear Sylvia, I had the opportunity just a few days ago to meet your mom, in just a little while I realized how wonderful she was. Her big smile, her beautiful face, these were only a few of the many wonderful things I saw on her, I learned at that time that the only thing that matters in this life is to be happy. Now the quality of life you shared with her is going to be forever in your heart. She was amazing!!!! I'm so sorry about your loss. Thinking of you, Regina

Dear Sylvia, I want to express my heartfelt condolence on the passing of your mother. Those of us on the Executive of the 3M Council felt that we knew her well because of the wonderful anecdotes that you brought to our meetings that conveyed the close and loving relationship that you had with her. The loss of a parent makes those terrible dark holes that appear when the universe of each human being ends.I know this will be a difficult time for you. Last year I had a memorial to my son placed on the campus at Western. The epitaph that I had mounted on the plaque, I believe, applies also to your mother, and, if I may, I would like to extend this to your mother. "The world is poorer for her passing. The world is richer for her passing through." Please know that I am thinking of you. Sincerely, Don

I never met Leida, but feel I know her through Sylvia's many stories about her remarkable life and personality. What a wonderful person, and a wonderful 96 years. My thoughts are with you Sylvia, but your mum is a cause for celebration, even though you will miss her dearly. Love, Chris
