PHILLIPS, MARIE LOUISE (NEE MARCHILDON)
February 16, 1923-August 22, 2010
It is with sadness that the family of Marie Louise announces her passing on August 22, 2010 in her 88th year at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We release our wonderful mother to our Lord, and we are grateful that she is free of the confines of ill health, and that her suffering has ended. Marie Louise was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late John Joseph Phillips (June 15, 2004), husband of 62 years. Her spirit carries on through her children, Michael (Marianne), Paul (Donna), and Alice Marie, and her granddaughter Michelle (Andrew). Marie Louise is predeceased by her parents Marcel and Ida Marchildon, and brothers Wilf, Fred and Frank. She is survived by sisters-in-law Eileen and Janet, and many nieces and nephews. She modeled a loving commitment to marriage and parenting for her children and granddaughter. A long standing member of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada, Marie Louise was committed to her parish at Most Blessed Sacrament, holding many executive offices. She loved to sing and play the piano, and was a member of the Resurrection Choir. We are grateful to the entire staff at St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke, especially Elm & Garland Terrace for the love and care that was shown to our mother, as well as to the paramedics and to all the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital who helped our mother on her final journey. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Wednesday, August 25th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Prayers will be said on Wednesday at 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Most Blessed Sacrament Church on Thursday, August 26th at 11am. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, or Good Shepherd Society would be appreciated by the family.
