Obituary for Josip "Joe" Maradin

Josip "Joe"  Maradin
Peacefully, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, Josip Maradin in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Jelena (Helen) Maradin. Loving father of Biserka (Biky) and her husband the Rev. Fr. Scott Whitfield. Beloved grandfather / Deda of Helena Margaret Whitfield. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Marica Volaric (the late Ivan) and by his sisters-in-law Danica Maradin (the late Mijo) and Rozica Maradin (the late Pero) as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Danica (the late Stefan) Maradin, and by his brother Drago. Joe emigrated from his native Croatia to Australia where he spent 10 years, coming to Canada in 1971 with his wife and daughter. A tailor by trade, he spent most of his career at the T. Eaton Co., Menswear Department. He is also a long time parishioner of Holy Cross Croatian Roman Catholic Church, Hamilton. Visitation at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Thursday, September 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Vigil Prayers at 5:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton, on Friday, September 23, at 9:30 a.m. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Ancaster. Memorial donations to McMaster Childrens’ Hospital would be appreciated by the family. www.dermodys.com.
